Note: Apple have actually implemented the "Securely empty the Trash" feature in Leopard, though in the Finder's Advanced preferences. I'm not sure this is the obvious place people would look for such a feature (surely they'd look in System Preferences under "Security"), but at least the feature is there.

Unfortunately, that is the only suggestion from this article that made it in to Leopard as far as I can see.

I am glad to post my views and points in this blog, but I must say that webmaster of this blog has done a very great job to make his blog more informative and more discussable but unfortunately everthing is same here that more than 80% in this and other blogs post their comments for making spam!!!, so i will really all this spam links to google band tool, because webmaster makes blogs for making discuss and for sloving each other problems. thanks http://www.gordoniihoodia.net

for wiping free disk space read the help file " Removing files from your computer" in apple help.
It describes how to wipe empty space with the disk utility

The Dock keeps applications on its left side, while folders and windows are housed on its right. If you look closely, you'll see a vertical line that separates them.

There used to be a utility in OS 9 called Burn that created a temporary file the same size as all the remaining disk space on a volume, then wiped that file.

Another nice post. That is a nice idea. But please mate. I urge you to send all nice ideas like that you come up with as a Feedback to Apple, through Apple.com under "Contact Us". If you haven't already done so that is :)

Because Apple says they really read all the feedbacks they get. I believe them. And suppose there are many other users also requesting this feature, you help contributing to it, and then they will more likely add the feature in the upcoming versions of OS X.

My rule of thumb is currently: No matter what improvement I want within OS X or any Apple application, and no matter how little it seems, I _always_ send them feedback. And in my opinion every OS X user should do that. Please be one of them, if you aren't already :) I'm sure this will just help Apple making their software better.
