As for the first comment. my ps3 is in another room and as the controllers all live in a draw with all of the media center controllers whenever you go into the draw the stupid ps3 turns on, automatically changing the channel. so for example. there is something interesting on and the volume needs changing and no one has been to get the controller you open the draw catch the ps3 remote and the tv automatically changes to the ps3 losing the program you were watching and then you have to wait for the ridiculous epilepsy warning tada etc to turn it off, again waiting for the menu and holding the button, by which time you have missed the program.
the wii remote does not do this and nor does the xbox one.
so as for dont be lazy, we dont all live in a bed sit. and although sony get +5 for a remote that can use the ps3 without seeing it alowing all the clutter to be in a media cabinet, they get -10 for making it turn on whenever someone breaths on the controller.
obviously we now keep the remote somewhere else. but it still gets nocked. the solution. 1 keep it in its own padded box away from any movement or
2 put it in the bin and the bin men will take it to a place with no signal.
once again a brilliant product spoiled by sony not actually thinking of their customers.

Re: Not being able to use a IR remote on the PS3

I was working with a mate a couple weeks back, he was for a job at some fancy house that hadn't been built yet where he was designing the A/V layout and cable & switching requirements, and one of the things he showed me was a device which accepts IR input and then can relay that as Bluetooth. The idea being to run the house and so forth from a universal remote.

From memory, it wasn't prohibitively expensive (like a PS3 is to me). Something worth considering

It has no On/Off button because Sony is trying to get some Nintendo Wii action by getting users to MOVE THERE ASS...it's Sony's version of Wii Fit...lame i know but it's a start damit so stop bitching and turn off the PS3 before you fall asleep watching it!
