Cows

Ed Riley, known as winkdot on the AtariAge forums, was a home-brew developer for the Atari 2600. Over the years he produced a wide range of fun games that he released for free to the Atari community.

Sadly, Ed Riley passed away in 2019. A great loss to the Atari community and the world.

Forum member Brian Matherne (Arenafoot) put together a wonderful Dedication archive of Ed’s games, including a memorial file, and linked to the zip file in a number of places on the AtariAge forums. This was a wonderful thing Brian did for Ed, and also for all the Atari 2600 fans around the world.

A couple of years ago, I was making some cover art for 2600 games without them (to complete my Batocera set) and so I made some art for winkdot’s creations as I couldn’t find any around. Many of the images were actually created using DALL-E (so AI generated) which I thought added a bit of life than just some generic text. I also made some marquees (in an Atari-like font) and put together some descriptions in gamelist.xml format for Batocera.

More recently I revisited these changes, fixed up some of the art, and added videos of the gameplay to complete the dedication set.

I’ve added these to Brian’s archive and attach the new archive here (with some previews of the art). I hope some of you find them useful.

Thank you once again to Ed for his creations. You are deeply missed.
